Brief Note on Al – Noor

Al – Noor Specialist Hospital is the only Ministry of Health tertiary care hospital in Makkah, the Holy Capital of Saudi Arabia. With 565 beds; 6 different specialized medical centers, and over 1500 international clinical staff, the hospital is considered one of the biggest and most important Ministry of Health Hospitals in Saudi Arabia. The Medical Divisions provides clinical and patient care services of the main specialties and over 33 different subspecialty, managed by a consultant staff exceeding 88 consultants with academic and teaching status. The hospital is self-sufficient in every clinical aspect with highly advanced medical, investigative, and therapeutic equipment, e.g. MRI, nuclear medicine, CT scan, Pediatric and Adult, Cardiac Catheterization Labs, Lethostar Machine . . . etc. The Hospital has got a teaching and educational mission equally important to its patient and clinical mission. It considered the teaching hospital for the School of Medicine of Um al-Qurah University, Makkah.

Responsibilities:

Directing, managing and supervising the medical, paramedical and nursing services, including 27 medical and clinical departments, 5 medical centers of Cardiology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, AKU, Ophthalmology, Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy Center, and 7 medical/clinical committees. Supervising a total of 500 medical staff, 300 clinical staff and 900 nursing staff in the provision of all clinical services for the Makkah region.


Achievements:

    Formulated short, medium and long term plans for the Hospital Clinical Services, based on the Ministry’s health care and development perspectives, data and forecasts of activities within the prescribed financial limits.

    Participated in formulating or approving all hospital policies and procedures, operation plans,  . . . etc. as a member of the hospital Executive Committee and Chairperson of the Medical Board.

    Controlled and evaluated hospital clinical services and activities thru the under management and the relevant patient care departments.

    Reviewed and updated medical and nursing organizational structures and standards operational policies (S. O. P.) to provide permanent solutions to certain operational problems.

    Reviewed and updated the hospital medical committees, their structures, manner of actions and membership, to ensure their effectiveness and full involvement in the improvement of the clinical and patient care services.

    In Liaison with the MOH Supervision Office, provided expansion plans of certain existing services, which included renovation of building, and update of equipment, and other services. The services included:

    Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Center
    The Diabetes and Endocrinology Center
    The Intensive Care Services, Medical ICU, Nursing ICU, Surgical ICU Theatres . . .etc.

    Was selected as a member of the Ministry of Health International Employment Committee to recruit medical, technical and nursing staff for the Ministry of Health hospitals. Recruiting trips included Arab and Far East countries.

    Was elected to present the Ministry of Health in the following Health Assemblies:

    Saudi Arabia Representative and Founder of the GCC Cardiovascular Association – GCC Council of Health Ministers, Doha, Qatar.

    Ministry of Health Representative in the 2nd Consultant Preventive Cardiovascular Assembly, Beirut, Lebanon,      May 2000.

    Ministry of Health Representative in the WHO International Conference of Humanitarian Medicine, Geneva, June 2003
